Day 10 8/10

Image
Today we slept in again before heading into Tacoma to Old Soldier Distillery. It was a facinating tour, not only because of the process, but because of all the history we learned along the way! We ended buying a couple of bottles to share with everyone at home! Next we went to the Almond Roca Factory store, where you can buy every type of Almond Roca imaginable for super crazy low prices! We obviously bought a bunch and yes, we will share. We went back to the AirBnB for a much needed powow on how the heck we were going to get all of this crap we've bought over the past 2 weeks back home.  Lastly we went to Everest Kitchen which was an Indian restaurant where we had the best food we've probably ever had in our entire lives. No exaggeration. Tonight is our last night in Seattle and we're off to the airport tomorrow! C

Day 9 8/9

Image
Day 9 and we are in Seattle! First stop, the Boeing Museum of Future Flight, which is located next to the Boeing factory, which is the largest volume building in the world!  This is me with the tail of a Boeing 747. There were tons of cool exhibits and lots of information about Boeing's new technologies! Brennan got to fly a drone and make a passport for Mars!  By far the coolest thing we go to do was design our own aircraft and then test it in a simulator to see if it could acheive supersonic speeds! I got second place on the leaderboard, which felt pretty good. They also had the original mockup for one of the modules for the ISS, which was awesome to walk through.  We also saw the entire history of Boeing, including the evolution of it's aircraft, logo and achievements. We agreed the Spark Museum was better, but only...

Day Eight 8/8

Image
It's already day eight and it's time to say goodbye to Ken and our lovely farm AirBnB in Blaine and head to Seattle! We got a slow start and left Blain around 11. First stop is the flagship REI store in Seattle so Brennan can hopefully test a mountain bike on their outdoor test track (without actually buying a $3500 bike, that is). This may be a bad idea... Turns out that REI is a) super low on inventory and had no cool bikes to test b) does not do test rides during Covid and c) is really expensive and designed to make you buy expensive things. So instead of testing a bike we bought matching down jackets and other crap. Yay! We then checked into our Seattle AirBnB which is actually in Lake Forest Park and is also, gorgeous. It also has a combo washer/dryer and a full kitchen! We also found a new card game at REI called Monopoly Deals which is SUPER fun. We played that tonight over Arby's for...

Day Seven 8/7

Image
Day Seven we did a bit of the Mount Baker drive. Although we decided not to do the full 2 hour drive, it was gorgeous! We then decided to head into Bellingham and go to the Spark Museum of Electrical Invention. That was AMAZING. They had displays of artifacts from the birth of magnetic and electrical discovery/invention through radios, light bulbs, Morse code, telegraphs, telephones, televisions and microphones.   They also had an amazing hour-long show with demonstrations of electricity that ended with the Mega Zapper zapping the s*** out of a Faraday cage WITH A PERSON INSIDE. For $10! So obviously Brennan did that.  I also have some awesome videos, but I can't put them here so I'll have to send them out! That zapper is LOUD. This was definitely one of the highlights of the trip. Then we took another local recommendation and went down the street to Bayou on Bay for dinner. We shared a fr...

Day Six 8/6

Day Six was another lazy day to catch up on sleep! We watched the Olympics, Age of Ultron and Harry Potter 3 on tv and went grocery shopping for more snacks and meals for the last couple of days in Blaine. We also planned out in better detail our plans for Seattle!  C

Day Five 8/5

Image
We have no internet at the AirBnB AHHHH. Day five had us sleeping in a bit before heading out to Bloedel Lake for a 2 person stand up paddle board rental.  We had a blast floating on the calm water and swimming a bit before collecting some sand and heading back to the AirBnB.  Then we headed to Fairhaven, a small town with a ton of small businesses and restaurants. We didn't take any pictures there but there were all kinds of small stores from pastries to art to jewelry to pottery to rocks. Everything you could want to look at!  Then we decided to follow some more advice from locals and do the famous Chuckanut Drive which was 100% worth it! Absolutely gorgeous forest road along the coast.  We drove up and down the 10 mile road a few times to take it all in before heading back home!  C

Day Four 8/4

Image
Okay let's try that plan again! We woke up at 630 and got ready for our 905am ferry to Friday Harbor on San Juan Island! We left a smidge late and had to run to catch our ferry, but we made it!  After stepping off at Friday Harbor, first stop was the Whale Museum, where I took no photos for some reason, but there were some amazing skeletons and lots of great information about the Southern Resident Orcas and both local and transient pods. Next we hopped onto the San Juan Transit bus and headed to Krystal Acres Alpaca Farm! Brennan fed some alpacas, but they were very Kuzco. Then we hopped back onto the bus and headed to Lime Kiln State park (aka Whale Watch park). We didn't see any whales, but we did see quite a bit of statistics showing our probability!  ...
